Two Smart Truck Modes for Multiple Interactions

Smokey has multiple modes for several forms of interactions. Depending on his positioning, Smokey can operate in considered one of two main modes--character mode or truck mode. Smokey is in character mode when he could be half or fully upright, and says phrases such as, "Smokey here! Reporting for duty!" When Smokey is on all six wheels, he is in truck mode and may be pushed forward and pulled backward to activate lights and sounds.

Using motion sensors and sound activation, Smokey is usually on alert. He knows the simplest way to say over 95 phrases and may sing 4 different songs. He won't sing every time, so keep raising and lowering him should you want to listen to him. Though he's always prepared to play, Smokey will fall asleep in the big event you leave him alone long enough. Press his lights or push him around to wake him up again!

Use Teamwork to Fight Fires

When he's in water cannon mode, Smokey is ready for teamwork. When he's ready to get a firefighter, he needs your help, and will say, "Load me up, chief!" Load the included "water" balls in to the chute and make use of the lever to produce them at the fire. When you hit the fire, Smokey will say things like, "Good shot!"

Question: What was your inspiration for the shadowy conspiratorial organization that your book The Shop is named for?

J. Carson Black: There has been speculation--especially in thrillers--that secretive organizations have existed inside federal government--that there are black bag operations, often carried in other countries.

Human nature being exactly what it is, it’s easy for me to picture people in power in the highest level planning all kinds of operations. Power corrupts, and if the resources are available, We have without doubt that something similar to The Shop could exist. All it could take would be those who are powerful enough to put it in place, and also the operations could go as far as their imaginations would let them go. Throughout history, powerful people made enormous mistakes, and possess corrupted power to their very own needs. I can picture the rich and powerful--the individuals who can command just about anything--coming up while using most hair-brained of schemes--and getting away with it. It’s a a bit more about man's instinct than anything else.

Q: Do you think it's possible an organization like The Shop could really exist?

JCB: I believe it can. Recently, it's got arrive at light that this secretive clandestine operations team "JSOC", Joint Special Operations Command, posseses an assassination squad operating with impunity in other countries.

JCB: I prefer them both. I didn’t expect you'll like Landry, since he’s a killer, but he sort of evolved for me. For one thing, he and I both have a desire for horse racing. When I wrote my way along, he kept showing new facets of himself. He has a wife and daughter. He includes a code, although it’s somewhat relaxed compared to those of normal people. He was trained to get a warrior plus a killer, as people inside the armed services are, and these include the skills he depends on to make a living. Having been a Navy SEAL, he has extraordinary talents and abilities. And he thinks he could be killing in the name of his country.

Jolie is my notion of what a homicide cop should be. She’s strong and reasonable, capable and calm. And Jolie must handle plenty of red tape and departmental b.s. She’s thorough and cares with what jane is doing. She cares concerning the child whose death is on the center of her investigation. The young man is gay, and he or she doesn’t want his death to visit unremarked. She would like justice for him.

A Q&A with Suzanne Collins, Author of Mockingjay (The Final Book of The Hunger Games)
Q: You have said from the start that The Hunger Games story was intended like a trilogy. Did it really end just how you planned it from the beginning?

A: Very much so. While I didnrrrt know every detail, of course, the arc of the story from gladiator game, to revolution, to war, to the eventual outcome remained constant throughout the writing process.

Q: We understand you worked about the initial screenplay for the film to get based on The Hunger Games. What will be the biggest difference between writing a novel and writing a screenplay?

A: There were several significant differences. Time, for starters. If you are adapting a novel right into a two-hour movie you can't take everything with you. The story has being condensed to fit the modern form. Then there is the question of how best to consider a novel told within the first person and offer tense and transform it right into a satisfying dramatic experience. In the novel, you don't ever leave Katniss for any second and therefore are privy to all of her thoughts so you'll need a way to dramatize her inner world and to produce it feasible for other characters to exist outside her company. Finally, there is the challenge of how to present the violence while still maintaining a PG-13 rating so that your core audience can view it. A great deal of things are acceptable on a page that wouldn't be over a screen. But wait, how certain moments are depicted may ultimately be inside the director's hands.

Q: Have you been capable to consider future projects while working on The Hunger Games, or are you immersed in the world you're currently creating so fully it is simply too difficult to take into consideration new ideas?

A: I have several seeds of ideas going swimming during my head but--given that much of my focus remains on The Hunger Games--it will probably be awhile before one fully emerges and I can start to develop it.

Q: The Hunger Games is an annual televised event through which one boy then one girl from each from the twelve districts is instructed to participate in a very fight-to-the-death on live TV. What can you imagine the benefit of reality television is--to both kids and adults?

A: Well, they're often setup as games and, like sporting events, there's an fascination with seeing who wins. The contestants are often unknown, which makes them relatable. Sometimes they've very talented people performing. Then you have the voyeuristic thrill—watching people being humiliated, or taken to tears, or suffering physically--which I have found very disturbing. There's also the opportunity for desensitizing the audience, in order that once they see real tragedy playing out on, say, the news, it won't possess the impact it should.

Q: In the wedding you were made to compete inside the Hunger Games, exactly what do you believe your skill would be?

A: Hiding. I'd be scaling those trees like Katniss and Rue. Since I was trained in sword-fighting, I guess my best hope will be to acquire hold of an rapier if there were one available. But the facts is I'd probably get with relation to a four in Training.

Gr 7 Up–The final installment of Suzanne Collins's trilogy sets Katniss in a more Hunger Game, but on this occasion it can be for world control. While it is a clever twist about the original plot, it indicates that there exists less focus about the individual characters and more on political intrigue and large scale destruction. That said, Carolyn McCormick will continue to breathe life in to a less vibrant Katniss by displaying despair both at those she feels responsible for killing and possibly at her motives and choices. This is surely an older, wiser, sadder, and extremely reluctant heroine, torn between revenge and compassion. McCormick captures these conflicts by changing the pitch and pacing of Katniss's voice. Katniss is both a pawn in the rebels and also the victim of President Snow, who uses Peeta to try to control Katniss. Peeta's struggles are very evidenced as part of his voice, which goes from rage to puzzlement to a unsure go back to sweetness. McCormick also helps to create the secondary characters—some malevolent, others benevolent, and several confused—very real with distinct voices and agendas/concerns. She acts like an outside chronicler in giving listeners just “the facts” but in addition respects the individuality and unique challenges of each and every of the main characters. Collins hasn't tied her future to your specific date, or weighted it down with an excessive amount of finger wagging. Rather less 1984 and rather more Death Race 2000, hers is often a gripping story set in the postapocalyptic world the place where a replacement for your Usa demands a tribute from each of its territories: two children to become used as gladiators inside a televised fight for the death.Katniss, from what was once Appalachia, offers to look at the host to her sister in the Hunger Games, but after this ultimate sacrifice, she actually is entirely centered on survival at any cost. It is her teammate, Peeta, who recognizes the significance of holding to one's humanity in such inhuman circumstances. It's a credit to Collins's skill at characterization that Katniss, like a new Theseus, is cold, calculating whilst still being likable. She gets the attributes being a winner, where Peeta gets the grace to get a fantastic loser.It's no accident these games are presented as pop culture. Every generation projects its fear: runaway science, communism, overpopulation, nuclear wars and, now, reality TV. Their State of Panem—which needs to hold its tributaries subdued and it is citizens complacent—may have came up with Games, but mindless television is the real danger, the means in which society pacifies its citizens and punishes those who don't conform. Will its connection to reality TV, ubiquitous today, date the book? It might, but for now, it makes this the proper book with the right time. What happens as we choose entertainment over humanity? In Collins's world, we'll be enthusiastic about grooming, we'll talk funny, and all sorts of our sentences can finish using the same rise as questions. When Katniss is shipped to stylists to become made more telegenic before she competes, she stands naked in front of them, strangely unembarrassed. They're so unlike people that i am no longer self-conscious than if a trio of oddly colored birds were pecking around my feet, she thinks. In order never to hate these creatures that are sending her to her death, she imagines them as pets. It is not just the contestants who risk the loss of their humanity. It is who watch. Katniss struggles to win not just the Games though the inherent contest for audience approval. Because that is the first book inside a series, not it is all totally resolved, and what exactly is left unanswered may be the central question. Has she sacrificed too much? We understand what she's given around survive, and not whether the price was too high. Readers will wait eagerly to find out more.
